LaBeau Named ECAC New England Pitcher of the Week

CASTLETON, Vt. – Castleton baseball's Michael LaBeau has collected another award for his dominant performance on the mound last week, as he was named Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) New England Region Pitcher of the Week, announced Tuesday by the league office.

LaBeau went 2-0 on the week with a pair of complete-game victories over North Atlantic Conference opponents. The senior allowed one run and held batters to a .176 average with 10 strikeouts over 14.0 innings pitched, lowering his nationally ranked and NAC-leading earned run average to 1.07 on the season. After Colby-Sawyer took two from the Spartans on April 12, LaBeau shut down the Chargers less than a week later with three strikeouts and one earned run on seven hits over 7.0 innings. He capped off the week with a 7.0-inning, two-hit shutout with seven strikeouts to match his career-high fourth win of the season against Thomas. After starting the season 0-2, LaBeau has been lights out with a 4-0 record in five appearances and four complete games, while allowing just two earned runs over his last 31.0 innings. The Bellows Falls native has not allowed more than two earned runs in any start this season, and has racked up 36 strikeouts in 42.0 innings pitched overall.

Castleton (23-6, 14-2 NAC) is on the road for a doubleheader at Lyndon on Tuesday, before hosting the Hornets in a twinbill on Thursday.
