Castleton Announces New Fundraising Arm for Athletics

The Castleton Department of Athletics, in conjunction with the Castleton Fund, is pleased to announce the formation of the Spartan Shield Society, a membership-based fundraising arm whose aim is to provide support to the nearly 600 student-athletes at Castleton.

The Spartan Shield Society is committed to supporting Castleton Athletics, through club membership and participation, by funding a comprehensive and diverse athletics program that provides opportunities for student-athletes to develop as individuals and leaders, while promoting a tradition of academic and athletic excellence.

“The Spartan's shield is a representation of teamwork and togetherness to achieve a common goal,” said Bo McDougall who heads up the steering committee. “As the costs associated with operating a successful athletic program rise, it’s important that we come together to ensure that the student-athletes of the present and future continue to have a comprehensive experience similar to those before them.”

Members of the society can expect special events throughout the year, advanced access and discounts on season tickets, and exclusive access to Castleton sideline apparel and merchandise.

“We want to build a network of Spartans who are willing to ‘pick up their shield’ and stand alongside our student-athletes as they represent Castleton in a first-class manner,” McDougall continued. “From the smallest gift, to the largest endowment, each person who is willing to provide support plays an integral role in developing our future leaders.”

The Spartan Shield Society is open to the public, and membership gifts for 2015-16 are now being accepted.
