WATERVILLE, Maine – For the second consecutive week, freshman Nathaniel Kingsley has been named the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week, announced Monday by the league office.
Kingsley scored in double figures in all three Castleton games over the past week, extending his streak of consecutive games with 10 or more points to five. First, he was a perfect 6-for-6 on two-point field goal attempts at Colby-Sawyer last Tuesday, finishing with 12 points and three rebounds against the Chargers.
Back in Glenbrook Gym over the weekend, Kingsley was 6-for-10 on two-point field goal attempts in Castleton's 68-52 victory over Maine Maritime Friday, ending up with 12 points and five rebounds. He led the Spartans against NAC leader Husson Saturday with 17 points and eight rebounds, shooting 7-for-10 from the field and making both of his free throw attempts.
For the season, Kingsley is averaging 9.7 points and 3.6 rebounds per game, shooting 48.8 percent from the field and 83.3 percent from the free throw line. Over the last five games, he is averaging 13.2 points and 5.4 rebounds per game while shooting 54.9 percent (28-for-51) from the field overall, including almost 71 percent (22-for-31) from inside the three-point arc.
Kingsley becomes the first Castleton player to receive NAC weekly honors in consecutive weeks since Chad Copeland was named Defensive Player of the Week on Nov. 24, 2014, and Player of the Week Dec. 1, 2014.
Castleton (4-6, 2-3 NAC) wraps up the first part of the season with a non-conference game at Pine Manor College Wednesday, Dec. 13, at 6 p.m.
