Golf Opens Its Season this Weekend

Castleton, Vt. – The Castleton golf team opens its season this weekend when the squad travels to the Airway Meadows Golf Course for the Tim Brown Invitational. 

The Spartans enter the year with a solid group of six golfers, including three returners from last year's team. Juniors Dan Hogan and Kyle Osborne are the veterans of the squad while sophomore Jack Ralbovsky also returns. Hogan was Castleton's third-best finisher in last year's NAC Championships while Ralbovsky was tops among returners with a scored of 162. Osborne was just nine shots back with a 171.

In addition to those three, head coach Bill Bowes also welcomes three new players to the fold in Justin Del Bianco, Jesse Dodge and Zac Temple. Temple is expected to be one of the team's top three golfers this year after a successful career at Hartford, as well as taking part in Vermont Amateur Championship this summer 

Last year Castleton placed sixth at the Tim Brown Invitational, while host Skidmore College won the event with a score of 588. Ralbovsky shot a 79 and 82 for the Spartans while Hogan was third on the team with a 163 (85,78).
