Castleton In Fourth After First Day of NAC Championships

ROCKPORT, Maine – The Spartans waded through a tough back nine from a number of players to sit in fourth after the first day of the 2013 North Atlantic Conference Golf Championships. 

Husson, seven-time defending NAC Champion, owns a 12-stroke lead on Salem State University, which shot 309 on Saturday. Maine Maritime is third at 321, followed by the Spartans at 325 and Maine-Farmington at 329. 

Freshman Zach Temple paced Castleton with 10 pars and a pair of birdies for a first-day 74, tying for fourth place through the first round. Junior Dan Hogan marked down a par on nine holes and took birdies on two more for a Saturday 79, tying with Salem State's Farley for ninth place. 

Sophomore Josef Ralbovsky opened strong with a 39 on the front nine, but hit a 46 on the last nine holes for an 85. He is tied for 23rd overall while Justin Del Bianco and Jesse Dodge each hit an 87 to tie for 26th overall. 

Castleton returns to the links for the final round of action at 9 am tomorrow.
