ROCKPORT, Maine – Castleton shot better as a team on Sunday but couldn't advance in the overall standings as they finished fourth in the 2013 North Atlantic Conference Championships hosted by Maine Maritime at the Samoset Resort.
The Spartans shot a 321 on Sunday, the third best team score on the day, but couldn't make up a four-stroke deficit against third place Maine Maritime as the Mariners shot a 322 to give them a 643 overall. Castleton's 646 was good enough for fourth while Husson won its eighth straight NAC Championship with a 608. Salem State was second with a 613 during the two days.
Individually, Castleton's Zach Temple finished tied for third overall after shooting a 79 on Sunday. He finished with a two-day total of 153 and put up the lowest tournament score among all freshmen. Junior Dan Hogan was just a shot behind Temple on the day and finished with a 159 overall to tie for 11th in the tournament.
Justin Del Bianco actually had the best day of any Spartan, shooting a 78 and tying for 19th with a two-day total of 165. Josef Ralbovsky rounded out the top four scorers with an 84 on Sunday and a 169 overall.
Castleton finishes its fall season at the N.E.I.G.A. Championship on Oct. 26.
