Castleton, Vt. – After an impressive freshman season, culminating with a strong performance in the North Atlantic Conference Championship, Zach Temple was honored on Tuesday as the NAC Rookie of the Year.
Temple led the Spartans all season long and in the NAC Championship helped Castleton to a fourth place finish as he tied for third overall. The freshman shot an opening day 74 and then on Sunday recorded a 79 to conclude the tournament with a 153 overall.
In addition to being named Rookie of the Year, Temple also secured NAC First-Team All-Conference honors with his top-six finish. Junior Dan Hogan earned second-team honors for the first time in his career after tying for 11th with a 159 in the NAC Championship.
Temple had won the previous four NAC Rookie of the Week Awards. He is the second Spartan to earn Rookie of the Year honor, as Bryan Fitzgerald captured the award in 2011.
