CASTLETON, Vt. – After posting two of his best starts of the season against stiff competition over the weekend, Castleton men's hockey goalie Ryan Mulder has been named the New England Hockey Conference Goaltender of the Week.
Mulder played arguably his best two games of the season as Castleton extended its unbeaten streak to six games over the weekend. In a Friday night tie against Babson, Mulder allowed just two goals while make a then-season-high 30 saves. The junior followed that performance up with an even better one on Saturday, keeping a potent UMass-Boston offense scoreless through two periods in an eventual 2-2 draw. He stopped a season-high 32 shots in the game, keeping the Beacons two goals below their season average of 4.26 goals per game.
This is the second week in a row that a Spartan has garnered a weekly award from the conference, as Otis Goldman was tabbed as Rookie of the Week last Monday. To view the full NEHC release, click here.
Castleton hits the road on Friday night to take on the No. 2 team in the country, Norwich, at Kreitzberg Arena at 7 p.m.
