MARSHFIELD, Mass. – Freshman Asa Palker of the Castleton University men's ice hockey team was selected the New England Hockey Conference Rookie of the Week for the week ending Nov. 4.
The recognition comes after a four-point weekend for the Manchester, New Hampshire native and New Hampshire Jr. Monarchs (USPHL Premier) alumnus. Palker scored once in a 4-2 loss to nationally fifth-ranked Hobart on Friday. Then, he netted a pair of goals and an assist in Castleton's 4-4 draw with Skidmore on Saturday. Two of Palker's three goals over the weekend were scored on the power play.
Palker has registered at least one point in each of Castleton's first three contests. He has three goals and two assists for five points and shares the conference lead in league points following the first weekend of NEHC action.
The Spartans hit the road on Friday at Babson and complete the NEHC road-trip on Saturday at UMass Boston. Start times are set for 7 p.m. and 4 p.m. respectively.
