Spartans Host Johnson St. at 4 pm on Saturday
Castleton, Vt. - The Castleton Men's Lacrosse Team looks to move over the .500 mark when they host Johnson St. on Saturday at 4 pm, in a game originally scheduled to be played at Johnson St.
The Spartans moved to 2-2 last weekend with a dramatic 7-6 comeback victory over Plymouth St. Castleton trailed 4-2 at the half but got three second-half goals from Nohea King, including the game-winner with 2:57 left in regulation to earn the win. Zach Davidson added one goal and two assists
Davidson has spearheaded the Spartan offense this season with a team-high 16 points, including a conference leading 11 assists. Spencer Hunt is second on the team with nine points on five goals and four assists while Alex Green leads Castleton with eight goals.
Three different goalies have seen time in net for the Spartans, combining for a 10.75 GAA and a 51.7 percent save percentage. Freshman Peter Latulippe has both wins on the season and has played a team-high 126 minutes this year.
Johnson St. is 0-1 on the year, opening its season with a 24-1 defeat at the hands of Olivet. The Badgers put 13 shots on net but were only able to get one through, while goalie Zach Jerome faced 37 shots. Matt Dekens has the team's lone goal.
Last year the Badgers went 4-9 and 2-5 in the North Atlantic Conference. Nash Garceau was the team's leading scorer a year ago with 27 points on 14 goals and 13 assists in 13 games. Castleton took down Johnson St. 20-3 last year at Spartan Stadium, with Davidson recording five goals and three assists.
