HUNTINGTON, Vt. – The Castleton University men's Nordic ski team participated in a relay on the first day of the Vermont Invitational Saturday at the Sleepy Hollow Inn Ski and Bike Center, finishing in third place in the team standings.
The trio of David Harvey, Keegan Cummings, and Devin Perry finished in seventh place among all the competing relay squads with a time of 36:28. However, with just Vermont and Clarkson squads finishing ahead of the Spartan threesome and only one team from each school scoring points, they were able to lead Castleton to the third place finish in the team standings with 15 points.
The Vermont threesome of Owen Molind, Lukas Adamowicz, and Thomas Clayton won the event for the Catamounts with a time of 31:54, just 10 seconds in front of the Clarkson trio of Tim Dunn, Mike Giraldi, and Charlie Maitland. The team standings started with Vermont, Clarkson, and Castleton, followed by Cornell, Sterling, Army West Point, and Hamilton.
The Vermont Invitational concludes on Feb. 4, as Sunday's event will be a four-person relay with two males and two females starting at 9:30 a.m.
