CHITTENDEN, Vt. – Recording yet another first-place finish and closing out an undefeated regular season, the Castleton University men's nordic ski team competed in the Eastern Collegiate Ski Conference Regional Championship over the weekend.
Racing in a team classic relay on Saturday, the men's nordic team partook in a 15-kilometer skate race on Sunday.
Leading Castleton during the first day of competition – on Saturday – the team of Andrew Doherty, Devin Perry and John Paluszek combined to record a split of 34:45. The Spartans finished more than a minute ahead of the next group from Clarkson, which recorded a time of 36:12.
In solo action, Doherty led the way recording a first-place finish out of more than 50 racers. He finished with a time of 31:41, while in second place, Paluszek put together a time of 39:30. Rounding out the scoring racers for Castleton, Dave Harvey placed in sixth overall and finished with a time of 42:36.
Perry (10th - 43:54), Williams (26th - 47:12), Wheeler (28th - 48:29), Cummings (45th – 1:00:27), Rizza (47th – 1:01:52) also participated in the skate for Castleton.

Men's nordic will now travel to Wilson, Wyo. for the United States Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association National Championships. Events will begin on Sunday, March 10, concluding on Saturday, March 16 and will be held at the Trail Creek Nordic Center.
