QUEENSBURY, N.Y. – Castleton's men's skiing team took home a fourth-place finish today in the slalom on the slopes of West Mountain.
The Spartans finished the contest just 8.75 seconds off the lead and 3.99 seconds behind third-place UConn with a total time of 6:49.68. Clarkson's Charles Lowth won the event in 1:38.13 to lead his squad to victory. Babson came home in second (6:44.05), while St. Anselm (7:13.08), UMass (7:17.55), Brown (8:51.45) and MIT (9:11.53) rounded out the field.
Connor Kelly was the top Castleton skier on the day with a seventh-place finish. The first-year Spartan posted one of the top initial runs with a time of 49.06 en route to the top-10 finish. Erick Robicsek notched the top result of his young Castleton career after coming home in 1:41.73 for 11th overall. Tyler Smith, meanwhile, finished 17th overall in 1:43.54, followed by Christopher Yopp in 19th (1:43.81) and Gordon Mason in 26th (1:45.77).
The Spartans return to action next weekend when they travel to Lake Placid, N.Y. to race in the giant slalom and slalom on the slopes of Whiteface Mountain.
