LAKE PLACID, N.Y. – Castleton's men's alpine skiing team took home a fourth place finish yesterday in the giant slalom at Whiteface Mountain in Lake Placid, N.Y.
The Spartans posted a total time of 390.10 seconds, less than nine seconds off the pace of UConn, who finished third in a time of 381.30. Clarkson edged out Babson (381.15) by 4.72 seconds to win the event, while St. Anselm (398.75), UMass Amherst (413.96), MIT (527.63), New England College (540.04) and Brown (571.44) rounded out the field.
Junior Connor Kelly paced the Castleton squad for the second straight event, finishing sixth overall in a time of 2:06.57. Seniors Tyler Smith and Gordon Mason delivered a pair of quality performances with respective finishes of 13th (2:11.43) and 15th (2:12.10), while Erick Robicsek came home less than two seconds behind the pair in 17th (2:13.36).
Castleton is back in action this afternoon, as the squad competes in the slalom at Whiteface Mountain.
