LAKE PLACID, N.Y. – The Castleton men's alpine skiing team finished in third place in the giant slalom on Friday, as Jan Klindic picked up his first collegiate podium appearance with a third-place finish of his own.
Klindic sat in fifth place following the day's initial runs, but laid down the fastest second run of the afternoon to jump up to the third-place spot with a time just more than a second behind the overall winner, Andrew Yoviene, from Clarkson.
Erick Robicsek crossed the line 14th overall with a total time of 2:10.79, while Matt Couture was 18th on the day at 2:12.48. Paul Klosterman, Erik Brobacke and Christopher Yopp all competed, but failed to finish for the Spartans.
Yoviene won the race with a time of 2:04.17, while Babson's Macintyre Henderson placed second with a time of 2:05.83.
Clarkson captured the team title for the day with a combined time of 6:17.90, while the University of Connecticut placed second at 6:25.73. Castleton rounded out the top three with a time of 6:29.10.
Castleton will compete in the giant slalom again on Saturday at Whiteface.
