Men's Alpine Skiing Travels to Crotched Mountain Saturday and Sunday

CASTLETON, Vt. – The Castleton men's alpine skiing team returns to the slopes this weekend, taking part in the slalom on Saturday before racing in the giant slalom on Sunday.

The Spartan men have finished second overall in each of the two slalom races this season, while grabbing first-, third- and fifth-place finishes in the giant slalom thus far.

Jan Klindic has been a standout in his first season at Castleton, placing three times in top 10—including two top-five finishes. The rookie has placed first of second on the team in five of his six races, failing to finish just once. Matt Couture has been consistent for the Spartans this season, finishing outside the top 20 just twice in six races. The senior has a pair of top-10 finishes thus far, with a best finish of seventh overall in the slalom to date.

Erik Brobacke looks to get back on top for the Spartans, finishing twice inside the top 10, including a No. 1 finish, but he has been plagued with bad luck, failing to finish a course on four occasions. Erick Robicsek has been strong of late, finishing no lower than 25 in any of his last four races, including a season-best finish of 13th the last time out.

Other key competitors for Castleton include Andrew Borden, Sawyer Mattsson, and Carter Lawrence, each of whom have finished inside the top 30 at least once.
