BENNINGTON, N.H. – The Castleton men's alpine skiing team picked up a third-place finish in Sunday's giant slalom at Crotched Mountain after placing four racers in the top 10 on the day.
Castleton finished just 3.01 seconds off the No. 1 spot, narrowly missing out on a team victory for the second day in a row. Clarkson claimed the top team time on the day, finishing with a time of 5:53.08. Babson finished just in front of Castleton in second place at 5:54.01.
Erik Brobacke was the top Spartan finisher, placing fourth overall after posting the fourth-fastest second run of the day. He crossed with a combined time of 1:58.01, less than one second behind third place. Jan Klindic continued his stellar rookie season, placing seventh overall with a time of 1:58.93.
Andrew Yovienne and Greg Murray of Clarkson topped the 70-racer field, placing first and second at 1:56.99 and 1:57.01, respectively. Babson's Henderson Macintye placed third overall with a time of 1:57.03.
Castleton returns to the slopes next Saturday and Sunday at Blackwater Ski Area for two slalom races.
