CASTLETON, Vt. – After posting a strong regular season and qualifying for the USCSA Eastern Regional Championships this coming weekend, three members of the Castleton men's alpine skiing team were named to the ECSC All-MacConnell Division Team on Friday morning.
Klindic was the No. 1 skier for Castleton this season, registering six top-10 finishes in 10 races this season. He finished just outside the top 10 twice, in 11th place both times, and only failed to finish a course on two occasions. He landed on the podium twice, with a third-place finish in the giant slalom at Whiteface and a No. 1 finish in the slalom at Crotched Mountain. He was Castleton's top finisher in four races, and finished second on the team once.
Brobacke clocked in with four top-10 finishes of his own this season, including a win in the giant slalom at Okemo. The first-year Spartan also notched a fourth-place finish in the GS at Crotched Mountain, while registering ninth-place finishes in the slalom at West Mountain and Blackwater Ski Area. Brobacke was Castleton's top racer in two events, while placing second on the team once.
Couture provided steady performances for the Spartans all season long, completing the course in nine of the Spartans 10 races. He tallied seven top-20 finishes, including four top-10 finishes. His best mark of the season came in the slalom at Okemo, where he was Castleton's top finisher in seventh place. He finished second on the team at West Mountain for the giant slalom, in 12th place.
Clarkson's Andrew Yoviene was named both Skier and Rookie of the Year for the conference, while Brown's Alex Norden was tabbed as the Coach of the Year. Saint Anselm earned the Team Sportsmanship Award.
