Men's Alpine Places Third in GS at USCSA Eastern Regional Championships

QUEENSBURY, N.Y. – The Castleton men's alpine team finished third overall in the giant slalom on Saturday, led by Erik Brobacke's third-place finish at West Mountain in the USCSA Eastern Regional Championships.

The Spartans tallied a team time of 4:31.34, just more than two seconds off the day's overall leader, Babson. Babson clocked in at 4:29.01, while the University of Connecticut placed second with a time of 4:29.03.

Brobacke raced his way to a time of 1:29.60 to finish on the podium, while Jan Klindic finished 11th overall at 1:30.78. Matt Couture checked in at 1:30.96 for Castleton to round out the top three for the team.

Erick Robicsek finished in 25th place overall for Castleton, while Paul Klosterman failed to finish. He was in 17th place after the first run, but could not complete the course on the second run.

Babson's Macintyre Henderson was the No. 1 overall finisher at 1:28.70, while UConn's Joseph Demuyt was second at 1:28.75.

Castleton competes in the slalom on Sunday at West Mountain on the final day of the USCSA Eastern Regional Championships.
