WATERVILLE, Maine – With the conclusion of the regular season, Castleton University has qualified for the 2018 North Atlantic Conference East Division Men's Tennis Tournament, to be held at Castleton Saturday, April 28.
The Spartans, 2-3 within the league as part of a 7-5 overall record, are the fourth seed and will face top seed Colby-Sawyer College (6-10, 5-0 NAC) in one semifinal at 10 a.m. In the other semifinal taking place at the same time, second seed Thomas (11-4, 4-1 NAC) will take on third seed MCLA (4-5, 3-2 NAC). The winners of the two semifinals will meet in the divisional championship match Saturday afternoon at least one hour after the conclusion of the semifinal matches.
The East champion will move on to face the champion from NAC West, made up of NEAC schools that sponsor men's tennis, in the crossover championship Sunday, May 6, at the Tri-City Tennis Club in Latham, N.Y., with the winner of that match receiving the automatic berth into the NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Tournament.
Castleton will be appearing in its 15th consecutive NAC/NAC East Men's Tennis Tournament with seven titles, but the Spartans will be looking for their first tournament championship since 2011. Please note that all dates and times are subject to change.
