Beauregard Shines for Men's Track and Field at Westfield St.

WESTFIELD, Mass. – Austin Beauregard continued his strong outdoor campaign on Saturday by qualifying for the New England Division III Championships to lead the Castleton men's track and field team at the Jerry Gravel Classic at Westfield State.

Beauregard placed fourth in the 110-meter hurdles with a regional-qualifying time of 16.40 seconds. The junior posted a strong mark in the 400-meter hurdles, crossing the line in 1:00.85 for a new personal-best time to place sixth overall.

Ryan Barry led the Spartans in the 100-meter dash, coming away with a time of 11.63 seconds to place eighth overall. Nick Reca placed 14th in the race with a time of 11.89 seconds, while Canute Watson and Luke Mullin finished back-to-back in 20th and 21st with respective times of 12.25 and 12.28 seconds. Reca earned a strong finish in the 200-meter dash as he paced the squad with a mark of 24.42 seconds.

The 4x100 relay team consisting of Barry, Reca, Beauregard, and Canute Watson set a new program pace and finished fifth overall with a time of 45.55 seconds.

Brodie Talbot shined in the throwing events for Castleton, as he broke his own previous school record in the discus with a mark of 42.76 meters to place seventh overall. Talbot has already qualified for the New England regionals with his mark.

Tayler Larmie placed fifth in the hammer throw and came close to his personal-best mark with a heave of 46.14 meters, which once again surpassed the regional-qualifying mark. Morgan Rainville led the way for Castleton in the shot put with a mark of 12.68 meters to check in at 13th. Jackson Dwyer posted a season-best mark in the shot put with a launch of 11.77 meters to place 18th.

The Spartans will head back to Fitchburg State on Saturday, April 21, for the Eric Loeschner Memorial.
