Three From Men's Track and Field Compete at New England Regionals

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Three members of the Castleton men's track and field team competed in the New England Division III Championships on Friday and Saturday at MIT.

Brodie Talbot and Austin Beauregard competed in the discus and 110-meter hurdles on Friday, while Tayler Larmie represented the Spartans in the hammer throw on Saturday.

Talbot had trouble getting going on Friday as he fouled on each of his throws to finish in 25th place. The freshman had an impressive rookie campaign in which he set a new school record in the discus with a season-best mark of 42.76 meters, which ranks 17th overall in New England.

Beauregard posted a time of 16.31 seconds in the 110-meter hurdles to cross the line in 20th place. After qualifying for regionals during the indoor season, Beauregard carried over his success to the outdoor season, which saw him record a season-best mark of 16.15 seconds in the event to earn a regional bid.

Larmie competed in the hammer throw on Saturday and came away with a 15th place finish after registering a top mark of 45.11 meters. He is coming off another strong outdoor season in which he set a new personal best and school record in the hammer throw with a season-best launch of 46.43 meters.

Castleton concludes a strong outdoor season in its third year as a varsity sport. In all, the Spartans owned four new program records this season and earned a fourth-place finish at the North Atlantic Conference Championships.
