Jeremiah "Jay" Condon has been hired as the new head coach of the Spartan men's and women's track and field teams.

Condon comes to Castleton from his previous position as head varsity track and field coach at Granville High School in Granville, N.Y. First coaching at Granville High School from 2008 to 2013 and then returning for the 2017-18 academic year, Condon developed skills training for all events as well as a strength and conditioning program, plus he coordinated schedules and budgets and managed home meets.

From 2015 to 2017, Condon was the assistant track and field coach at Hudson Falls High School in Hudson Falls, N.Y., first working with student-athletes in the jumping events before taking over oversight of the throws event competitors. He was also the assistant track and field coach at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in Troy, N.Y., from 2012 to 2014, recruiting athletes and developing practice plans for the hurdle events.

Condon obtained his Master of Sport Science degree in sport coaching from the United States Sports Academy in Daphne, Ala., in October 2007. He has been a sixth-grade teacher in ELA and social studies within the Granville Central School District since 2005. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in childhood education from The College of Saint Rose in December 2004. He was named the 2005 Student Association Advisor of the Year for successfully creating the club ice hockey team at Saint Rose.

Entering his first indoor track and field season, Condon will coach the jumps, hurdles, and 400-meter runners.

A Level 1 Certified coach by USA Track and Field, Condon lives in Hudson Falls, N.Y., with his wife Sara and their daughter Makenna.
