CASTLETON, Vt. – Grandon Smith was named North Atlantic Conference Runner of the Week for the third straight week, recognizing the senior's 34th-place finish in the UMASS-Dartmouth 8K Invitational that consisted of 242 runners from 33 different programs.
After two wins to start the season, Smith accomplished another impressive finish in the UMass-Dartmouth Invitational with a time of 26:19, which led all NAC runners. Smith's 5:17 pace was a season-best and helped the Spartans take 20th-place as a team in a strong field of 33 programs.
Smith has now earned three NAC accolades in as many events this season, along with ECAC Runner of the Week honors following his first place finish at the Castleton Invitational.
Following a bye week, Smith and the Spartans will compete in the Vermont State Meet hosted by St. Michaels College on Friday, Sept. 30. Starting time is scheduled for 4:15 p.m.
