Men's Cross Country Heads to Western New England

CASTLETON, Vt. - Coming off a two-week break, the Castleton men's cross country team returns to the course on Saturday morning for the Western New England Invitational in Springfield, Mass. 

Grandon Smith has crossed the line first for Castleton in each of the first four races. Smith has tallied three top-three marks, including two first place finishes in the opening two meets of the season. The junior is coming off a third place finish out of 74 runners in the eight-kilomoter Vermont State Meet, which garnered the junior North Atlantic Conference Runner of the Week. 

Jonah Lavigne has also enjoyed a strong season, posting three top-25 finishes, including two top tens. Lavigne crossed the line second for Castelton in the Vermont State Meet, finishing in 24th place overall with a time of 28:19.  

Jared Wheeler and Patrick Gilligan have also taken top ten finishes this season for the Spartans.

Castleton has recorded a pair of second place finishes and three top fives overall in the first four meets of the season. The Spartans will take their marks at 11 a.m. on Saturday morning.
