Grandon Smith Named NAC Runner of the Week

WATERVILLE, Maine – After claiming the individual race title at the Southern Vermont Invitational on Saturday, Grandon Smith of the Castleton men's cross country team has been named North Atlantic Conference Runner of the Week, as announced Monday afternoon by the league office.

Smith picked up right where he left off last season, capturing the top spot in the opening meet of 2017. The senior paced the field of 51 runners to the finish line in the five-kilometer race with a stellar time of 16:56, leading the way by over one minute. The Spartans placed three in the top five to finish second as a team with 48 points, just one point behind MCLA for the meet title. Eight teams competed in the event.

This is the 11th time Smith has earned a NAC weekly award in his career, including his sixth Runner of the Week honor. To view the full conference weekly awards release, click here.
