Smith Named NAC Runner of the Week

WATERVILLE, Maine – After capturing the individual title at the Western New England Invitational on Saturday, Grandon Smith of the Castleton men's cross country team has been named North Atlantic Conference Runner of the Week, announced Monday by the league office.

Smith took first place in the eight-kilometer race, marking his fourth individual title in five total meets this season. The senior paced the field of 106 runners to the finish line with a time of 25:52, a comfortable 36 seconds faster than his nearest competitor. Smith helped lead Castleton to a fifth-place finish as a team out of 14 squads in the race.

The Spartans return to action Saturday, Oct. 28, when they will compete in the North Atlantic Conference Championship at UMaine-Farmington.
