Men's Cross Country Seventh at Little East Conference Championships

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Castleton University men's cross country team placed seventh at the Little East Conference Championships on Saturday.

Sophomore Gannon McKearin paced the Castleton fleet and finished 22nd. Junior Jared Wheeler followed close behind and checked in three spots later at 25th.

Southern Maine won the team championship on the strength of five top-15 performances. UMass-Dartmouth fell five points shorts and finished second with 48 points.  

Rounding out the scoring for Castleton was Levi Williams in 50th place, Avery Barrino in 53rd, and Oliver Rodgers who placed 64th. Justin Perretta finished one spot later at 65th.

Plymouth State finished third in team scoring with 83 points, followed by Keene State (85 points), Eastern Connecticut State (132 points), and UMass Boston (166 points). Following Castleton was the host, Rhode Island College (205 points) and Western Connecticut State (278 points). 

Castleton will compete next at the New England Regional on Nov. 10 at 12 p.m.
