WATERVILLE, Maine – After helping the Castleton University women's basketball team earn two more victories to stay atop the conference standings, Brooke Raiche has been named the North Atlantic Conference Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week, announced Monday by the league office.
In last Tuesday's victory over Lyndon, Raiche finished with six points, four rebounds, four assists, two steals, and one blocked shot in 18 minutes of action. Saturday at Green Mountain, she was on the floor for 17 minutes, hitting 5-of-8 shots from the field as she led the Spartans with 11 points, plus she pulled down two rebounds and earned one steal.
Raiche has now reached double figures in scoring six times this season. She is fourth on the team in scoring, averaging 7.3 points along with 2.9 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 0.9 steals per game for the Spartans.
This is the second time this season Raiche has been named NAC Rookie of the Week, previously earning the honor Dec. 11. A Spartan has received the weekly rookie award for the second straight time and third time overall this year, as Emilee Bose earned recognition from the conference office last week.
Castleton (17-3, 13-1 NAC) hosts Colby-Sawyer College Tuesday, Feb. 6, starting at 5:30 p.m. at Glenbrook Gym. The second place Chargers are two games behind the first place Spartans in the NAC standings after Colby-Sawyer defeated Husson Saturday, 80-72.
