Stephens Highlights All-Conference Selections

Castleton, Vt. - After leading the Spartans to their best season in program history, Paula Stephens was named ECAC East Goaltender of the Year by conference coaches and officials on Thursday night. She was one of four Spartans to receive postseason honors.

Stephens posted an 11-7-2 record in goal for the Castleton State Spartans this season. In 1186:08 minutes of action, she sported the conference's best save percentage (.943) and is ranked in the top-five in goals against average (1.62). Nationally in Division III, she is among the top-ten in save percentage and minutes played, and one of only two goalies to make at least 500 saves, earn at least a .940 save percentage, and post a 1.65 goals against average. She was named ECAC Women's East Goaltender of the Week three times this year.

Joining Stephens on the ECAC East All-Conference First Team was forward Nicoline Jensen. Jensen earned the first team distinction after leading the Spartans in points on the year. The sophomore scored 12 goals on the season, and broke a program record by recording 19 assists. The pair of first team honors marks the first time in program history multiple players have been named to the All-Conference First Team.

Anna Daniels was named to the ECAC East All-Conference Second Team. The sophomore posted a team-high 13 goals on the year and earned 16 assists. She helped to lead the Spartans to their most prolific offensive performance in their history. The team scored 71 goals over the course of the regular season, shattering the previous record of 60, set last season.

The Spartans were represented on the ECAC East All-Rookie Team for the second straight season as well. Lisa Kilroy was named to the All-Rookie Team after finishing the year with 10 goals and 13 assists. The freshman scored the seventh most points per game of any rookie in Division III hockey.

Stephens, Jensen, Daniels, and Kilroy will lead the Spartans into the playoffs where they take on Southern Maine in the ECAC East Quarterfinals. The two teams square off at Spartan Arena in Rutland, Vt. at 7:00pm on Saturday, Feb. 22.
