CRAFTSBURY, Vt. – The Castleton University women's Nordic ski team placed two competitors in the top 10 on the first day of the Sterling Invitational Saturday at the Craftsbury Outdoor Center.
Participating in the 7.5-kilometer classic event, Megan Greene crossed the finish line fifth overall for the Spartans, posting a time of 29:59.5. Greene was less than three seconds behind fourth-place finisher Allie Skahen of Vermont and just 1.2 seconds in front of Cornell's Isabel Sharp.
Emily Cromie finished in 10th place in the event with a time of 32:02.9, followed by Adrienne Toof in 13th place in 33:01.0. Hahnah Saroff crossed the finish line in 20th place with a mark of 34:11.8, and Carley Patch ended up in 30th place overall with a time of 37:26.9.
As has been the case so far this season, Sarah Duclos of Clarkson finished first with a time of 28:38.9, followed by teammate Ana Witkowski in 28:43.6.
The second day of the Sterling Invitational is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 5, and will involve a relay event for the second consecutive weekend.
