HUNTINGTON, Vt. – Thanks to a strong final leg by each member of Castleton University's top relay squad, the women's Nordic ski team finished in second place Saturday at the Vermont Invitational at the Sleepy Hollow Inn Ski and Bike Center.
The team of Emily Cromie, Adrienne Toof, and Megan Greene ended their final relay legs strong to cross the finish line in second place with a time of 39:16, six seconds in front of Vermont's top squad. Thanks to the trio of Ana Witkowski, Raili Utiger, and Bridget Wangler posting a winning time of 37:57, Clarkson took top honors in the team standings ahead of Castleton and Vermont, followed by Cornell, Wellesley, and Hamilton.
Kaylyn Crompton joined with Lara Weise of Sterling and Sarah Rodman of Clarkson to form a competing relay squad, and the threesome finished in eighth place with a time of 48:12.
The Vermont Invitational concludes on Feb. 4, as Sunday's event will be a four-person relay with two males and two females starting at 9:30 a.m.
