Women's Nordic Skiing Picks Up Third-Place Finishes In UVM Invite

HUNTINGTON, Vt. – The Castleton University women's nordic ski team competed in the University of Vermont Invitational at the Sleepy Hollow Inn Ski & Bike Center on Saturday and Sunday afternoon.

Participating in the 10-kilometer classic on Saturday, the Spartans then raced in the 4-by-2.5-kilometer skate relay on Sunday.

Leading the Spartans individually on day one of the event – the classic – Megan Greene placed third overall with a time of 32:38. Also inside the top 10, Emily Greene was the second Castleton racer across the finish line with a 36:10 split. Rounding out the scorers, Adi Toof finished 12th out of over 50 racers in a time of 36:49.

Molly O'Callahan and Emily Cromie placed back-to-back in 16th and 17th with times of 38:31 and 38:34, respectively.

On Sunday – in the team relay skate – Castleton came in third as Megan and Emily Greene, O'Callahan and Toof teamed up to race a total of 10-kilometers. Emily Greene led the team with a split of 7:15, while O'Callahan (8:11), Megan Greene (8:41) and Toof (9:13) rounded out the order.

Women's nordic skiing returns to action after a week of rest to host and compete in the Castleton University Invitational at Mountain Top Inn & Resort in Chittenden, Vt.
