Castleton Rugby to Face Sacred Heart in Rematch Sunday

CASTLETON, Vt. – The Castleton University women's rugby team opens a four-match road swing in Fairfield, Conn., this Sunday, Sept. 25, when it faces Sacred Heart University for the second time in three weeks.

Looking for its first victory as an NCAA varsity program, Castleton is coming off back-to-back 45-10 home defeats at the hands of Sacred Heart and Molloy. In both contests, the Spartans took an early lead but could not keep the momentum going throughout the matches.

Casey Comeau, Kayleigh Daniels, and Savanah Graves have scored one try each for the Spartans, with Willow Barbero-Menzel and Katie Campbell each earning one assist so far this season. Last week against Molloy, Campbell also picked up a successful conversion and a penalty kick for Castleton.

Sacred Heart is 1-1 so far this season, losing to Molloy Sept. 3, 45-22, before its 45-10 victory over Castleton Sept. 10. Against the Spartans, the Pioneers were led by Charlotte Tallman with three tries and Kaylee Hale with two tries.

Besides Sacred Heart, Castleton will also face Molloy College and University of New England twice this season.
