BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Castleton University women's rugby team lost to Bowdoin College Saturday afternoon, 85-0, at Pickard Rugby Field.
Bowdoin's Liz D'Angelo opened the scoring with a strong running play, outstepping the defense after Bowdoin's forwards won the scrum. Throughout the match, the Bowdoin forwards maintained strong go-forward ball with powerful runs from Pamela Zabala, Meredith Outterson, and Cristina Lima, opening up space for Paige Pfannenstiel to touch the ball down seven times in the match, a Bowdoin record.
Five of eight conversion kicks in the first half were made by D'Angelo and Kendall Schutzer. All five tries in the 2nd half were converted by Schutzer.
Castleton (0-7) plays its final two matches of the 2016 season at home, starting next Sunday, Oct. 23, against Quinnipiac beginning at 2 p.m. at Alumni Field.
