Rugby Falls In Season-Opener At Sacred Heart

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Castleton University rugby team dropped its season opener by a score of 84-10 to the Division I Sacred Heart University Pioneers. Rugby falls to 0-1 on the season, while the Pioneers are now 1-0.

Veronica Arnone and Autumn LaPlant scored the Spartans two tries on the afternoon. Neither kick was successful following the try.

Elsewhere, Mariah Jollie notched a pair of 20-plus meter runs in the loss. Savanah Graves and Arnone led the team with 18 and 16 tackles, respectively.

Rugby will return to action at 1 p.m. on Sept. 10 as they travel to face Division II Long Island University Post.
