BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – The Castleton University women's rugby team fell on the road 15-12 at Long Island University Post on Sunday afternoon. Castleton moves to 0-2 on the year, while the Post Pioneers are now 1-1.
Castleton came out of the starting whistle with a little more forward aggression. Sierra Ostrow-Remy notched the first Spartan try of the day, which gave the squad a 5-0 lead.
Following a 15-0 run by the Pioneers, Castleton rebounded with another successful Sierra Ostrow-Remy try attempt. This one came with just 28 seconds remaining in the second half.
Julia May completed the drive for the Spartans with a good post-try conversion for two points, bringing the score to 15-12. However, there was too little time remaining for Castleton to be able to get fully back into the match.
Castleton returns to action at 1 p.m. on Sunday for its first home match of the 2017 season. The Spartans will host Molloy College.
