Spartans Earn No. 2 in NAC Tournament

Castleton, Vt. – Following its 1-1 double overtime draw with Maine Farmington on Sunday, Castleton women's soccer earned the second seed in the upcoming North Atlantic Conference Tournament.

The three-time defending champion Spartans finished with a 7-1-1 mark in conference play and will host seventh-seeded Maine Maritime in NAC quarterfinal action next Saturday.

Colby-Sawyer College finished the regular season unbeaten in the NAC to secure the top seed. The Chargers (16-3, 9-0) are unbeaten in their last 18 regular season conference contests, and for the second-straight season will take the top seed into the tournament, where they will host eighth-seeded Thomas in Saturday's quarterfinal.

Third-seeded UMaine-Farmington also finished 7-1-1 in conference play and will host the six seed, Johnson State while New England College (6-3) will host Husson (4-4-1) in the final quarterfinal round match up.

The top eight teams qualify for the NAC Championship. Predetermined tiebreaking procedures were used to seed teams with identical conference winning percentages.

Quarterfinal round games will be played on Saturday, November 2 at the higher seed. Winners will advance to the semifinal round held at the higher seed on Tuesday, November 5. Semifinal winners will meet Saturday, November 9 at the highest remaining seed.
