Valancius Highlights Five All-Conference Selections

Castleton, Vt. – Freshman forward Dominique Valancius has been honored as the North Atlantic Conference Rookie of the Year and was one of five Spartans to received all-conference recognition in a vote of the NAC's coaches.

Valancius was also named to the NAC All-Conference First Team, along with sophomore forward Mallory Costello and senior defender Halie Roberge. Defenders Kelsey Lenney and Allison Vachon were both named to the NAC second-team.

Valancius earned Rookie of the Year honors after ranking third within conference play in both points with 21 and goals with nine. She also added three assists and became the second-straight Spartan to earn Rookie of the Year, after Mallory Costello won the award in 2012.

Costello earned her second straight nod on the all-conference team after finishing second in the NAC in points with 24 and tied for first with ten goals in nine games. Roberge, Lenney and Vachon helped anchor a defense which allowed just five goals within conference play and recorded four shutouts.

Maine Farmington senior Kayla Tuttle was voted as the Player of the Year after leading the conference with 25 points and five game-winning goals, while ranking second in goals (10) and third in assists (5).

Caroline Mols was selected as the Defensive Player of the Year after leading a New England College defense that allowed just 22 goals all season, second fewest in the conference.

Colby-Sawyer head coach Meghan Medberry was honored by her peers as the Coach of the Year for the second-straight season after guiding the Chargers to a 9-0-0 mark in conference play and the top seed in the conference tournament.

For the third-straight season the University of Maine at Farmington was honored with the league's Sportsmanship Award.
