The Spartans defeated MCLA, 6-1, before carrying that momentum over to their NAC-opening 2-1 victory over New England College. Castleton concluded the week with a hard-fought, 2-1 overtime loss to Eastern Connecticut State on Sunday. The Warriors finished the 2016 regular season undefeated in Little East Conference play and were ranked No. 12 in New England.

Julia Carone and Bronwen Hopwood have each netted a goal and an assist thus far for the Spartans. As an offensive unit, Castleton is averaging 12 shots and 1.83 goals per game.

Defensively, Castleton has recently found strong defensive play out of two goalkeepers in Kiley Baran and Rachel Shambo.
