WATERVILLE, Maine - After posting a shutout in the North Atlantic Conference Championship and being named Tournament MVP, Kiley Baran of the Castleton women's soccer team has been named NAC Player and Defensive Player of the Week, announced Monday by the league office.
Baran logged 195 minutes in goal and helped lead Castleton to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2012 with 13 saves in two postseason wins. The senior keeper made four saves against a tough New England College team in the semifinals, before posting a shutout with nine saves -- her second-highest career total -- in the conference championship against Husson. She held Husson off the board long enough for the Spartans to score the only goal of the match with just under five minutes remaining in double overtime. Baran sits third on the Castleton all-time single-season record for save percentage (.849) and fourth in goals-against average (0.88). To view the full NAC weekly awards release, click here.
Castleton (11-7-2) will find out its NCAA Tournament opponent and destination Monday afternoon.
