CASTLETON, Vt. – The Castleton women's tennis team was victorious on Saturday afternoon as they defeated Lyndon St. College by a final score of 8-1.
The Spartan team swept the doubles matches en route to improving to 2-0 on the young season, while Lyndon drops to 0-2 after the day.
The duo of Sara Novenstern and Jackie Lisak led the way, winning the top-flight doubles contest 8-2. The No. 2 team, which consisted of Ciara Bannister and Kirsten Kruk, recorded an 8-4 victory, while Monika Plante and Diane Benedicto recorded an 8-6 win in the third-flight match.
In singles play, Novenstern, Lisak, and Kruk each recorded 10-2 victories for the Spartans, while Benedicto and Bannister won 10-3. For Lyndon, Alexa Richard recorded a 10-3 victory in No. 4 singles action.
Castleton will be back in action on Wednesday, Sept. 9 at 4:00 pm when it takes on Plattsburgh St.
