CASTLETON, Vt. – The Castleton women's tennis team hosts a pair of NEAC East matches this weekend beginning with Thomas College on Saturday before wrapping up with Husson on Sunday.
The Spartans enter the weekend with a 4-0 record in home contests, as well as a four-match winning streak. Overall Castleton sits at 6-1, including a 2-1 record in NEAC East play. Most recently, the Spartans downed MCLA 7-2.
Ciara Bannister enters the weekend with a six-match winning streak in singles play, while Dianne Benedicto, Kirsten Kruk, and Jackie Lisak have all won four consecutive singles matches. Lisak sits at 4-0 in No. 2 singles play, while Meg Susslin has put up a 2-1 record in the No. 2 spot.
In doubles action, Lisak and Sara Novenstern have been unstoppable of late, winning four consecutive matches at the top flight. The team of Bannister and Kruk sits at 5-2 overall in doubles play, winning three consecutive matches.
Thomas enters the contest with a 1-6 overall record, most recently falling to Johnson St. by a score of 6-3.
Lindsey Allen has played in the top spot for the Terriers, recording a 2-3 record on the season. Olivia Mora holds a 3-1 record in second flight singles, while Amelia Guimond has won once at third flight singles.
In doubles action, the team of Lindsey Allen and Olivia Mora has a 3-2 record in the top spot, while the remainder of the team has yet to win a match.
Last season, the Spartans were victorious, winning a tight 5-4 battle over the Terriers.
For Husson, they enter the weekend as the top team in the NEAC East divison, sporting a record of 4-0 overall and 3-0 in conference play.
Meredith Blessard and Katie Pratt are both 4-0 in singles and doubles action for the Eagles on the season. Kelsey Pelletier is 3-1 at No. 4 singles, while Charlotte Bednarz and Sarah Smith are undefeated in No. 2 doubles play on the season.
