Women's Tennis Looks to Make it Seven Straight Today at Lyndon St.

CASTLETON, Vt. – The Castleton women's tennis team travels to Lyndon St. today for a NEAC East contest at 3:30 p.m.

Castleton enters the match 8-1 overall, including a six-match winning streak, and a four-match winning streak in conference play. Most recently, the Spartans handed the Husson squad their first loss of the season, taking down the Eagles 7-2 on Sunday.

Jackie Lisak has been a force fot the Spartans, recording an 8-1 record on the season in second and third-flight singles play. Kirsten Kruk and Dianne Benedicto have also tallied 8-1 overall records on the year, while Ciara Bannister has won seven consecutive singles matches on her way to a 7-1 record.

In doubles play, Lisak and partner Sara Novenstern are 6-3 overall, while Bannister and Kruk have won five straight matches together for a 7-2 record. Benedicto and recent partner Meg Susslin have taken back-to-back matches in third flight action on their way to a 2-1 record.

For Lyndon St., they enter with a 1-8 overall record and a record of 0-5 in NEAC East play. The Hornets have dropped six straight matches and have yet to win on their home courts. Most recently, Lyndon St. was swept 9-0 by Colby-Sawyer.

Alexa Richard has been the top performer for the Hornets, posting a 5-4 record in singles play. Nichole Jones has tallied three wins for Lyndon St. in singles action, while Carina Alden has done the same.

These two squads faced off earlier in the season, with Castleton coming out on top by an 8-1 final. The Spartans have won four consecutive matches over Lyndon St. dating back to the 2013 season.
