Spartans Cruise to 9-0 Victory over Lyndon State

CASTLETON, Vt. - The Castleton women's tennis team defeated Lyndon State on Wednesday afternoon by a final score of 9-0.

With the win, the Spartans move to 7-4 overall and 4-2 in the NEAC East, while Lyndon State falls to 0-10, 0-6.

Ciara Bannister and Kirsten Kruk started things off for Castleton with a 8-2 victory in first doubles. Megan Nadler and Kayla Zsido followed with an 8-0 win, before Alexis Curley and Jennifer Blay gave the Spartans a 3-0 overall advantage with another 8-0 win in third doubles.

Kruk improved to 9-2 on the season with a straight-set win in third singles, while Zsido and Jennifer Blay also tallied wins in straight sets for Castleton.

Bannister earned her seventh win of the season in first singles action with wins of 6-2 and 6-1, before Nadler followed with 6-1 and 6-0 victories. Emily Miller improves to 5-1 in the NEAC East with 6-0 and 6-1 wins in fifth singles for the Spartans.

Castleton will return to action on Saturday when it hosts Johnson State in a key conference matchup. The match is slated for 1 p.m.
