Stearns Qualifies For New England Regionals at Dartmouth Relays

HANOVER, N.H. – Ally Stearns qualified for the New England Division III Championships in the weight throw for the second consecutive season to highlight the Castleton women's indoor track and field team on Sunday at the Dartmouth Relays.

Stearns punched her ticket to the New England Regionals in the weight throw with a new school record distance of 14.20 meters to place 13th overall. Brianna Hake and Carley Patch recorded heaves of 9.79 and 9.39 meters, respectively. Mariah Jollie and Cara Cummings covered respective distances of 9.29 and 9.02 meters in the weight throw.

Patch led the Spartans in the shot put with a 24th-place distance of 9.36 meters, just ahead of Stearns, who registered a distance of 9.35 meters to place 26th overall.

Sierra Ostrow-Remy paced Castleton in the 60-meter dash, placing 21st overall with a time of 8.50 seconds. Carlie Reen crossed the line with a time of 9.09 seconds, just ahead of Alix Hurley and Morgan LaBarr, who clocked in at 9.55 and 10.32 seconds, respectively. Christiana Carmichael and Reen led the Spartans in the 400-meter dash with respective times of 1:06.59 and 1:09.74.

The Spartans return to action next Saturday, Jan. 13, for the Middlebury Winter Classic.
