Castleton Vt. – The Spartans conclude their regular season when they travel to face Norwich in a non-conference matchup at 6 pm.
Castleton is 9-12 overall and coming off a 1-1 weekend. The Spartans lost to Maine Maritime 3-0 before sweeping Husson 3-0 to secure the third seed in the North Atlantic Conference Tournament. Norwich enters tonight's match with a 5-19 overall record after beating Albertus Magnus 3-2 last weekend.
Sophomore Brittany Brayman as provided both offense and defense for Castleton, leading the team in kills per set (2.21) and ranking third on the team in digs per set (3.31). Freshmen Cassidy Tedeschi and Kaylee Pratt have proven to be strong hitters, ranking second and third on the team with 1.65 and 1.36 kills per set. Sophomore Amanda Chambers is fourth on the team in kills (81) and leads the team with 4.17 digs per set. Classmate Kristi Lawless is second with 3.51 digs per set while Shelby Smyth leads the team with 50 aces and 2.89 assists per set.
The Cadets are averaging 7.26 kills per set, led by Kelsey Mancini and Tara Lyons. Mancini leads the team with 2.06 kills per set, followed by Lyons at 2.0. Mancini also leads the team with 0.49 blocks per set. Defensively the team is averaging 14.66 digs per set, with five players averaging at least 2.0 digs per set. Alex Ruediger leads the team with 2.82 digs per set while Angie Hershberger is second with 2.76.
