Volleyball Splits First Two Conference Matches

BANGOR, Maine – The Castleton University volleyball team split its first two North Atlantic Conference matches of the 2016 season, defeating Maine-Presque Isle, 3-0 (25-23, 25-22, 25-15), before losing to host Husson, 3-0 (25-16, 25-12, 25-13), Saturday afternoon at Newman Gym.

Against Maine-Presque Isle, Cassidy Tedeschi led the Spartans with seven kills and four service aces, plus she collected 17 defensive digs. J'Leen Diaz earned a career-high 25 digs to go along with six kills, two service aces, and a solo block.

Tedeschi once again led Castleton's offense against Husson with seven kills and two solo blocks, plus she earned 13 digs. Diaz paced the Spartan defense with 15 digs to go along with five kills and two total blocks.

Castleton (6-6, 1-1 NAC) heads to Chicopee, Mass., for a non-conference tri-match next Saturday, Oct. 8, facing Lesley University at 1 p.m. and host Elms College at 3 p.m.
