CASTLETON, Vt. – After four seasons at the helm of the Castleton University volleyball program, Nicole Kondziela has resigned as head coach to pursue opportunities outside of collegiate athletics.
Kondziela was a two-sport athlete at Castleton and graduated in 2007. During her senior year as a member of the volleyball program, she appeared in all 24 matches and ranked fourth on the team in digs. Kondziela was also impressive on the slopes for the Spartan alpine ski team and, during the 2006-07 season, was named the team's MVP after leading the squad at the USCSA Regional Championships.
Kondziela was voted North Atlantic Conference Co-Coach of the Year in 2015 after leading the Spartans to a 13-10 overall record, the most wins for the volleyball team since 2009. She guided the Spartans to a berth in the NAC Tournament in each of the last three years.
She took over as head coach before the 2014 campaign after three seasons as an assistant coach in which Castleton increased its win total from the previous season every year.
A search for the new head volleyball coach at Castleton will begin immediately.
