Dale Solotruck Named New Castleton Head Volleyball Coach

CASTLETON, Vt. – Deanna Tyson, Associate Dean for Athletics and Recreation, has announced that Dale Solotruck has accepted the position of head women's volleyball coach at Castleton University, effective immediately.

Solotruck will remain as co-head coach of the Castleton men's and women's alpine ski teams, a position he has held for 12 years. In total, Solotruck brings 30 years of coaching experience in a variety of sports at the junior college and collegiate levels, cultivating success wherever he has gone.

"Dale has a proven track record of leading Castleton student-athletes to perform at their best, as evidenced by the accomplishments of the Spartan ski teams," Tyson said. "I look forward to watching the volleyball program evolve under his guidance."

Solotruck replaces Nicole Kondziela, who resigned after four seasons to pursue opportunities outside of collegiate athletics. Solotruck holds degrees from SUNY Potsdam and Syracuse University.

"I would like to thank Dr. Karen Scolforo and Deanna Tyson for trusting me to lead the Spartan volleyball program. I am ready to start working towards getting this program ready as it transitions into a new conference next fall," said Solotruck.

This past season, the volleyball team qualified for the North Atlantic Conference Tournament for the fifth time within the last six years. In addition, two members of the 2017 squad, Jess Grace and Maria Jackson, were named to the NAC All-Academic Team.

Current Castleton students interested in meeting Solotruck and joining the volleyball team are invited to an informational meeting Thursday, April 12, starting at 12:30 p.m. in the Hall of Fame Room within the Spartan Athletic Complex. Anyone with questions should contact Solotruck at dale.solotruck@castleton.edu or 518-424-2463.

The Castleton University volleyball program will join 17 other Spartan teams in moving to the Little East Conference starting in the 2018-19 academic year.
